ETİ began its production in 1962 in a factory personally designed by Mr. Firuz Kanatlı, our founder and honorary president. Always being the leader of innovations in its sector and working to offer better products for its consumers, Eti has produced products that are both delicious and memorable on its journey of taste.

Eti has always been the leader of innovations in its sector, and produced chain of products that are both tasty and memorable. Turkey’s first high-fiber biscuit; the first ready-made toasted bread; first industrial type sliced cake; the first packaged tart; the first brand of gluten-free products the first packaged brownie have been delivered to Turkish people with their unique tastes, and become indispensable in a short time. Besides, “Children, I have a riddle” jingle created by the composer and songwriter Mr. Oktay Tem not only won the hearts of children, but also the hearts of the adults with its lyrics and music.

Eti have been granted many awards over the years with its innovative approach dominating the sector. It gave inspiration to many enterprises and improved the palatal delight of Turkish people. A new period began for Eti in 2003. TPM (Total Productivity Management) which Eti’s Founder and Honorary President Firuz Kanatlı called “a war of civilization” was adopted as factory management approach in Eti and new achievements were obtained. Thanks to its well-organized, meticulous and dedicated staff who implement this management approach, Eti won “TPM Awards” given by Japan Institute of Plant Maintenance 8 times.

Eti’s achievements are not limited to TPM. Being first in “Capital Most Favorite Companies” list in biscuit and chocolate sectors in 2013 and 2014 successively, Eti employs more than 7.000 employees in 72 different cities of Turkey today. Competing in the world markets as one of biggest 100 industrial enterprises of Turkey with its innovative perspective and capability of developing its own production technology, Eti continues to add pleasure and happiness to life with its experience, high-quality, innovative and unique tastes.

Our founder Mr. Firuz Kanatlı established the first facility to produce biscuits under “ETİ” brand and registered it in Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

On January 20; ETİ biscuit factory began production on trays with 20 employees and a daily capacity of 3 tons.

1962

"Petit Beurre", "Marie", "Kremalı", "Sable", "Bademli" were put on the market in the boxes of 4-5 kg.

1963

Turkish engineers established the second facility to increase the capacity.

1965

Automation process was completed in cooperation with Turkish engineers and the first automatic tunnel oven was put into use.

1967

First automatic biscuit production facility built with the projects of Turkish engineers was established and began production on November 25th.

"ETİ Finger" production began and it was put on the market.

1970

Second automatic production facility built in Turkey was put into use and started production in 3 shifts a day.

Mr. Firuz Kanatlı opened Hacı Ahmet Kanatlı Anatolian High in Eskişehir, named after his father and provided education opportunity for thousands of young people.

Firuz Kanatlı's company ETİ Biscuit Factory became ETİ Gıda Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. on 13 March 1972 with the participation of family members.

“Children, I have a riddle” jingle created by composer and songwriter Oktay Tem began to be used.

ETİ made its first export to Cyprus.

ETİ won ‘TSE Quality Award’ for the first time.

First imported oven was purchased, other machinery of the automated facility were built in Turkey and put into use. “Differentiation” in competition was provided with transition from manual packaging to automated packaging.

ETİ Gıda Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. established “Etimek” facility in Bozüyük (Bilecik).

ETİ began production of “ETİ Cicibebe”, the first baby biscuits, an important product for baby nutrition.

On February 20th, the production of “Etimek”, the first and only ready-made toasted bread of Turkey began in Bozüyük facilities and it was put on the market.

ETİ Makine Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. was founded in Eskişehir Organized Industrial Zone for the purpose of combining design, production, assembly and comprehensive service activities of ETİ continuing since 1967 under a single roof.

The production of the first high-fiber biscuit of Turkey, "ETİ Burçak", began and it was put on the market.

The production of “ETİ Puf”, biscuit with marshmallow and covered with granules, began and it was put on the market.

On February 6th, Tam Gıda Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. was founded and began cake production.

1982

On March 1st, the production of “Slice Cake with Raisin”, a first in Turkey, began in Tam Gıda San. ve Tic. A.Ş. factory and it was put on the market. The product range was then expanded with “Slice and Baton Paykek” in Cocoa, Marble, Fruit, Apricot, Coconut and Lemon flavors.

The production of Turkey’s first industrial type “Slice Cake with Fruit and Cocoa” began in Tam Gıda facilities and it was put on the market.

1986

Cake production line was established in ETİ Gıda Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. Bozüyük facilities and the production of “Browni” began and it was put on the market.

1990

Production of “ETİ Topkek” with Cocoa and Fruit began in ETİ Gıda Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. Bozüyük facilities and it was put on the market.

The production of "ETİ Negro" and "ETİ Form Biscuit" began and they were put on the market.

1995

ETİ became the first company to train merchandising staff.

1996

A new and modern “'ETİ Gıda Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş.” facility was established in Eskişehir Organized Industrial Zone to comply with the changing conditions and it began production.

In December, ETİ Gıda Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. became the first factory in the biscuit sector to receive ISO-9002 Quality System Certificate.

ETİ Pazarlama ve Sanayi A.Ş. which provides consumers with the right product at the right time in the right location and with suitable price as per the demands and preferences moved to Istanbul on January 1st.

Transition from Wholesale Dealer System to Distributorship System for sales and distribution.

The production of first chocolates Çikolata Keyfi (Chocolate Delight) with Milk, Pistachio, Hazelnut and Bitter began in September and they were put on the market.

New Cake Factory was put into use and began production in order to meet the cake demands.

‘Braille’ alphabet was used on Browni Gold 250 gr. Packages put on the market in second quarter of 2005 so that the visually impaired consumers could recognize the product and this design received many awards.

Kanatlı family accelerated the efforts for institutionalization of ETİ. The duties and responsibilities of Board of the Directors and the Executive Committee were separated in September. Kanatlı family, that made ETİ one of the major players of the sector, withdrew from executive functions and took their place in the Board of the Directors.

Tadında was launched in December. Tadında “simit kaşar” and “çatal” flavors, which are indispensable tastes of Turkish people, quickly took their place among favorite crackers as well as cheese variety.

Passing TPM Awards final inspections successfully, our factories were awarded by Japan Institute of Plant Maintenance. Our Biscuit Factory received “TPM Award for Continuity in Excellence”, Tam Gıda and Bozüyük Factories received “TPM Excellence Award”. ETİ’s understanding of excellence in production was proven once more.

ETİ Form Pop Corn Rice was launched in June. The calorie of popcorn taste was reduced to 137 and the pleasure was doubled.

“Eti Children’s Ferryboat” was realized in July as part of Social Responsibility projects. 300 children under the protection of Social Services and Child Protection Institute went ton an unforgettable journey along the Bosphorus for 3 weeks, during which history, drawing and percussion work was performed.

ETİ Popkek Sour Cherry Cacao with its delicious cake and intense sour cherry cream having sour cherry chips was launched in December.

Eti Tutku Bitter was launched.

ETİ Chocolate Factory became the fourth ETİ Factory winning “TPM Excellence Award” given by Japan Institute of Plant Maintenance. The number of TPM awards of ETİ rose to five including this award.

Always ready for unexpected guests, ETİ Paykek was completely renewed from taste to package in April. A new variety was added to ETİ Paykek Family: “Carrot – Walnut – Cinnamon”, a popular kind of cake very often baked at homes.

The first ETİFEST was held in May with entertaining and exciting activities with broad participation of the university students.

In May, ETİ Benim’O, well-received by sandwich biscuit lovers with marshmallow under tasty chocolate coating and coconut granules dredged on it, was put on the market.

Creating a Civilization of Taste just like Anatolian civilizations with its nearly half a century experience, ETİ started a long-term social responsibility project in cooperation with ‘ÇEKÜL Foundation’ in May. It was aimed to train 4 thousand “Cultural Ambassadors” in 77 cities in Turkey between 2008 – 2012 with “ETİ – ÇEKÜL Cultural Ambassadors” Project to protect our country’s cultural heritage and to strengthen the social values that were on the verge of being forgotten by upcoming generations.

ETİ Form Bran Biscuits with Mixed Fruits, a product that helps the digestive system with its rich fiber content and dried apricots and strengthens the immune system with antioxidant dried plum and raspberry cubes, was put on the market in June.

ETİ Burçak initiated an important project in June with the motto “There are still some natural things left in the world…”. ETİ Burçak started a “Modern Irrigation Project” in cooperation with WWF-Turkey (World Wildlife Fund) in order to protect the water resources of Konya Basin which raises most of Turkey’s grain and will be affected most by global climate change, and said stop to drought in Konya Basin.

“ETİ Maximus”, a new energy source for young people that fits plenty of hazelnuts and caramel into milk chocolate covered nougat bar, was put on the market in June.

Packaging of ETİ Wanted, chocolate coated caramel and puffed rice bar, was renewed in September. In the same period, Wanted product line was expanded with the launch of “Wanted Bumba”, our chocolate coated coconut and puffed rice bar.

"Çikolata Keyfi Sticks" was put on the market in December in its new convenient form for the ones who want to enjoy Çikolata Keyfi anytime and anywhere.

In January, both the packaging of ETİ Lifalif was renewed and new Orange Chocolate Muesli variety was put on the market.

ETİ Burçak continued its efforts to protect natural life in Turkey. After achieving successful results with “Konya Basin Modern Irrigation Project” in the previous year, ETİ Burçak initiated “Turkey’s Future Project” in order to develop climate scenarios throughout Turkey in 2015, 2030 and 2050 and to evaluate the effects of climate change on the product range for Konya Closed Basin and East Mediterranean Basin.

Spring festivals in universities were colored with ETİ FEST. Organized for the second time, ETİ FEST met nearly 300 thousand students from universities in 10 cities between 4–22 May.

Our Honorary President and Founder Firuz Kanatlı was granted “TGNA Outstanding Service Award” given by Turkish Grand National Assembly Presidential Board to people and organizations that make contribution to Turkey’s development with exemplary service.

In August, new pleasure of wafer began with ETİ Hoşbeş. Melting in the mouths with its paper-thin wafer layers and tasty filling, ETİ Hoşbeş war put on the market with three flavors: hazelnut, strawberry and vanilla.

ETİ Fest stormed up the universities with entertainment with all its dynamism in its third year. ETİ Fest exhilarated nearly 650 thousand university students of 10 universities with day and night activities between 03-24 May in 10 cities.

ETİ was granted Golden Award in 2009 as the company making the most international trademark applications in Turkey. Besides, it also won Patent League Award as first company in food sector and second company in all sectors in terms of number of trademark applications made in Turkey.

After successfully passing the final inspection for Total Productivity Management (TPM), ETİ Biscuit Factory was awarded “TPM Special Award”, and ETİ Cake Factory was granted “TPM Excellence Award”. With these awards, ETİ’s all production facilities were awarded TPM Awards.

In February, ETİ Paykek brought a brand new dimension to the competition by differentiating itself in the hospitality cake market with its renewed taste, new sliced presentation and new packaging.

ETİ planned surprise events to add small happiness to life as part of its 50th anniversary and realized its first surprise event in Mersin on March 15th, and delighted the residents of Mersin by bringing tons of real snow to Mersin city center where it did not snow for 30 years.

ETİ extended Pronot product range it developed in order to inform the public about the celiac disease, increase awareness and help improve the quality of life of celiac patients with social responsibility awareness. “Eskişehir ETİ Archeology Museum”, the first museum supported by private sector in Turkey, was opened on May 28th with a ceremony attended by Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and ETİ’s Honorary President Firuz Kanatlı. The museum which had been closed for approximately 10 years revived with ETİ’s investment of 9 million TL.

The cooperation between ETİ Burçak and World Wildlife Fund (WWF TURKEY) continued in 2011 under "Climate Adaptation Campaign Project" with pilot applications to help increase the level of awareness of the farmers on adaptation to climate change. It was aimed with the project to extend agricultural production compatible with the climate and accelerate the transition to modern irrigation.

EETİ continued its success of being “The Most Admired Company of the Sector” received last year in “the Most Admired Companies of Turkey 2011” survey conducted by Capital Magazine for 12 years. ETİ ranked first in “Biscuit and Chocolate” sector given for the first time in 2011 survey, and won the title of “Most Admired Company” two years in a row.

Universities livened up with „ETİ Fest“ once again this year. Starting in Adana Çukurova University on May 7th and bringing hours of fun for the young, festival continued in Ankara, Malatya, Trabzon, Antalya and Eskişehir and ended in Kocaeli University on May 23rd.

OYAK Group transferred its minority shares in ETİ Pazarlama ve Sanayi A.Ş and Tam Gıda San. ve Tic. A.Ş. of ETİ Group of Companies to ETİ Gıda Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. The transfer took place on June 01st.

“ETİ ÇEKÜL Cultural Ambassadors” social responsibility project launched in 2008 by ETİ and ÇEKÜL Foundation to protect the cultural values of our country and pass them on to the future generations completed its fifth and final year. Nearly 18 thousand Cultural Ambassadors in 6th grade of primary schools were educated in 77 cities of Turkey. The Cultural Ambassadors who met in Istanbul coming all over Turkey with a specific theme met in Gaziantep on June 19th with “Local Tastes” theme.

“50th Anniversary Surprise Happiness Activities” of ETİ received award in “Event Management” category in 11th Golden Compass Public Relations Awards organized by Public Relations Association of Turkey (TÜHİD).

ETİ presented an award to recognize the outstanding achievement of Gamze Bulut who became Eskişehir’s and Turkey’s pride in athletics with her result of 4.10.40 in 1500 meter race in 2012 London Olympic Games. ETİ Companies Chief Executive Officer Hakan Polatoğlu presented the award to Gamze Bulut on August 16th in Eskişehir Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports.

Top flavor brand in chocolate for the little consumers, ETİ Petito Ayıcık created “ETİ Petito Dance” encouraging the children to be more active.

Dedicated to make contribution to social and cultural development of children, ETİ Children’s Theater met Turkish children living abroad after touring Turkey eight times and TRNC six times with its free plays. In the first stop of this tour, ETİ Children’s Theater staged “Puss in Boots” play for Turkish children living in Skopje, the capital of Macedonia, on November 15th and offered them both educational and enjoyable moments.

All industrial and commercial operations began to be carried under “ETİ Gıda Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş.” with the merger realized in January in order to simplify the legal entities.

ETİ Gıda was granted “Award for Respect to Human”, one of the most prestigious awards to recognize the successful work in the field of human resources in Turkey, for the third time in a row.

“Effie Turkey Advertising Event Awards”, considered being the “gold standard” of advertising sector became a source of pride for ETİ family. The top 51 accomplishments in 28 categories received awards during this event organized in April, and 2013 Effie Award was given to ETİ Burçak in “Good Job” category, ETİ Tutku in “Sustainable Success” category and Adicto Intense in “Cross-Border Success” category.

ETİ Burçak and WWF-Turkey chose Oğuzeli Village in Konya as pilot area for this project because it still has considerable underground water reserves; and 25 percent productivity increase was achieved with 40 percent less irrigation on the pilot fields in Oğuzeli with modern irrigation method.

ETİ Children's Theater, which is an opportunity for tens of thousands of children to go to the theater for the first time in their lives, met with its little audiences in the 2013-2014 season with its new play "The King is Naked". Reaching nearly 1.5 million children with 6 different plays since 2001, ETİ Children's Theater will introduce 120 thousand more children in 45 cities/districts to the art of theater free of charge this season.

ETİ made a big impression with the awards it received in Mediacat Felis 2013 where the best strategies, ideas and applications of the year are chosen. ETİ won the first place in Food and Beverage category with its advertising campaign “Mutluluk denince akla” (When it comes to happiness), and it also won the first place with ETİ Children’s Theater in Corporate Social Responsibility and Raising Public Awareness category.
